Why XAI !!

While most of the audience is already familiar with AI, XAI as a term is still catching up !
XAI , commonly referred as Ethical AI or Explainable AI, refers to the machine learning systems which have the ability to explain the rationale, characterize their strengths and weaknesses and convey an understanding of how they will behave in future.
Why this is important ??
Imagine you applied for a role on a recruitment website which claims to use AI to shortlist candidates . How fair is it to recruiters or the candidates if they don't factually know the rationale behind getting shortlisted/ rejected
Similar to this could be people applying for loans with a bank and the bank declines the request without justifying/ recommending any course correction
This has also surfaced as the European Union moves to implement the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR. One key element of this comprehensive regulatory framework is that it attempts to establish a right to explanation
